Setting The Time
To set the time, gently pull the crown all the way out and move the hands in either direction. Once you have set the correct time, push the crown home again. The watch should now run at the correct time.
Opening A Double Hunter Pocket Watch
To open a double hunter case, press the button on top of the winder gently to open the front case. Press the button further to open both the front and back cases. To close a double hunter watch, depress the winder, it is important that you don't "snap" the case-lid shut, doing this will wear out the latch.
Winding Mechanical Watches
We recommend that you wind your watch at about the same time every day, preferably in the morning. Turn the crown clockwise gently and steadily and stop when you feel resistance. Excessively forceful winding could damage the movement. Typically, mechanical watches have an accuracy +/- 60 seconds within a 24-hour period. This is due to temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and altitude affecting the movement. For this reason, you should reset the time daily when winding the watch.

Frequently Asked QuestionsWith hundreds of timepieces to choose from, how do you know which style of pocket watch is best for you? We've broken things down for you with eight things to consider.
Typically, you should wind your pocket watch every day to ensure accurate timekeeping. Some watches may have a power reserve indicator to help you gauge when to wind it.
A hunter case has a latch which catches on the rim of the front cover and keeps the cover closed. To open the watch, you depress the crown (the winding knob) which is connected through a spring to the latch. To close a hunter-case watch, it's important that you don't "snap" the case-lid shut. Doing this will wear out the spot on the case-rim where the latch engages.
To open a double hunter case, press the button on top of the winder gently to open the front case. Press the button further to open both the front and back cases. These operate just like standard quartz wrist watches. To set the date (if this is a feature on the watch), pull the crown out to the first detent and turn anti-clockwise. To set the time, pull the crown all the way out (or second detent) and wind clockwise. Push the crown all the way back in to start the movement and begin normal time keeping.
Clean the outside of the pocket watch with a microfiber cloth - don’t use cleaners or water as these can damage the surface and internals. We include a free cleaning cloth with every order.
Most pocket watches are manual-winding, so you need to turn the crown clockwise to wind the mainspring. Be careful not to overwind, as it can damage the mechanism.

In these instances, choose Special Delivery for priority engraving service. This means your engraving will be prioritised and pushed to the front of our queue and dispatched on the same working day. To benefit, orders must be placed before 3pm.
Our standard engraving service will take 1-3 working days for dispatch.
There are three fonts to choose from for your engraving. These are Times New Roman, Amerzone Script and Zapf Chancery, examples of which can be viewed on the engraving options page. Please remember, we cannot engrave two different font styles onto the same pocket watch.
